Cabbage Patch Kid
Last year while teaching third grade, and right before I was about to pop with child, I handed out some lovely baby cabbage plants to each of my 31 students. They were to take them home and plant them. There was a scholarship prize of $1,000 attached to the largest cabbage plat grown in the state of Utah. I didn't think much of this as I handed out the fragile little plants. Out of the blue, just the other day I got a phone call from the Daily Herald asking to interview me for and article they were doing on one of my third graders from last year who had grown the largest cabbage plant in the state of Utah. That is awesome! What a cabbage that cute little girl grew! And she will always remember her teacher who got it started. Very fun.
