There's No Place Like Home

This Halloween was a blast! I decided to dress are family up with a "theme" in mind. After much deliberation, I decided that Harrison would be a lion, I would be Dorthy and Taj would wear a tin foiled covered funnel on his head.
(Doesn't Taj look excited to be made of Tin!?)

Harrison, being only 6 months, had no clue why we would put him in such a puffy, uncomfortable and hot outfit. With cameras flashing, and all eyes on his cousin and him I am sure he thought things were a little bit different. Although different, my little boy enjoyed his first Halloween, maybe as much as I did.

The short movies below are a gift from Grandpa's iphone. Every time I watch them, I die laughing... good thing Harrison's costume came with padding!

Domestication

So of late, I have been trying to become domesticated. Taj has even gone as far as to call me "industrious". I guess that is nice of him to say. With the Preschool Halloween party today I took the opportunity to make a pumpkin cake for the occasion. It was fun trying to decide what the best baking pan would be for the orange, somewhat round ball of deliciousness. Finally the idea came... bundt pans! (Never thought I would think the idea of a bundt pan would be exciting.. but alas.) Although it may not be the best attempt, and for sure not something you would see on the TLC show Cake Boss, it was tasty and the kids loved it!

And of coarse, I had to add a picture of Harrison. Here he is happily watching his domesticated mommy create her masterpiece.

And the test... I passed! The kiddos loved it!

Kitchen Chair Makeover

I have been on a little home decor kick lately. Today I took something old (my kitchen chairs), and made it into something new! Check it out! This was cheap, fun and fast!

Above are the supplies that are needed for the much needed kitchen chair makeover!
Take the seat off..
Wrap your new fabric around the cushion. Secure with staple gun.

Happy 6 month Birthday!

Today, October 24th 2009, my little man turned 6 months old! How did half a year go by so quickly? I must say it is bitter sweet. My little boy is growing up. This morning we introduced him to his first solid food, rice cereal. With rubber spoon and plastic bowl at the ready we snapped a few priceless shots. The pictures below are much better than words to describe how he felt about this bland new food.

First bite ever!

Gag reflex.. just like mommy!

He wasn't sure what to think about this, yet he kept going back for more.

Sitting up is fun to do... Fun to do... to do to do

At just 5 months old Harrison has found the joy of sitting up. We are so proud of our little sitter.

Enjoying Baby Einstein.

Grocery Shopping is so much more fun when one can sit!

Painted Leaves on Autumn Trees

Last weekend, Conference weekend, Harrison, Taj and I went up to the canyon to enjoy the colorful fall leaves. At first Harrison wasn't very excited about this. I don't know if I have ever mentioned that Harrison hates his car seat, but he does. In fact, on the day that we brought Harrison home he showed signs of hating his car seat almost instantly.

Things have not changed much from his first car seat experience, but Taj and I have found a cure for his car sear anxiety. The remedy is simple really.

Just take one radio station programed to :
And for backup, when the radio signals get lost while traveling up the mountain, be sure to take one ipod fully charged carrying this tune:

The result of these two remedies is one happy Harrison. Music is the cure. I don't think I have ever listened to more classical/soothing music in all my life.

Equipped and ready for the little trip up the mountain, we were excited to see the beautiful fall leaves. They were spectacular! I really think Harrison enjoyed our adventure. I had a lot of fun taking pictures. Taj had fun taking pictures as well. Even the old guy who was hiking with a giant stick had fun helping us out and taking our pictures. Enjoy...

Aren't my boys cute!?!?

A Day at the Zoo

About two weeks ago Harrison, Ella, Steph and my mom and I visited the Hogle Zoo. It was an adventure indeed!

This is at the very beginning of our zoo adventures. Harrison was very happy and excited to see the animals.

Once in the zoo Harrison realized that it was hot and stinky. I think that he was tired too. Here we were looking at the cougars. He was not very happy about that.

Ok, this is the funniest story… Ella loved the cougars. But the cougars loved Harrison. While visiting the cougars he was screaming his guts out. My mom noticed that the cougars were coming down close to the fence. So many people were crowded around looking at them. I tried to settle Harrison down. When he stopped crying they went back to the rock. That is when we decided that the cougars thought that Harrison’s cry sounded like a cougar cubs. We tried to get him to cry again to see what the cougars would do ( I know… I am the best mommy ever). Sure enough the cougars came back down to the fence. As we were leaving the cougars let out a very very loud scream. It was so loud that it made people jump in the crowd. Kinda weird if you ask me. I think they thought we were taking their cub or something. I was for sure glad that they were locked up! Because of Harrison’s cougar cry we are dressing him up as a lion for Halloween. I will for sure post pictures of that when that spooky day comes!

Here we measured how big Harrison and Ella are to the infant gorilla. They are just the right size. Isn’t it funny to see how Ella and Harrison are about the same size!! Check out Harrison’s chunky thighs. We think that Ella’s face looks like a monkey in that pic.

Ella ate carrots at the zoo while Harrison ate his stroller. Aren’t they cute. Both of them have huge blue eyes! I love them so much.

This is by far my favorite picture from our day at the zoo. Look at Harrison’s face… oh my heck he is so dang cute. The outfit he is wearing is my brother Jason's who is currently on a mission. It has zoo animals on it. I thought it was the perfect outfit for the zoo. J

This is pic from the scary train ride. This is before the train took off at alarming speeds. So funny. Both babies were scared to death. The dark tunnel was the scariest. I laugh still when I think about it.

This pic is post- zoo. I had to take a pic to show his zoo blanket and outfit. You can tell by his little eyes how tired his first day at the zoo made him. We had so much fun.
